Jacko is painted in oil paint on wooden board, and I endeavoured to capture the essence of a cherished childhood memory of my beloved toy monkey, Jacko, who has been my constant companion since Christmas day 1970. I used several layers of oil paint to create texture, blended with brushes and fingers to add a personal touch and feeling to the painting, I painted a realistic image of Jacko showing all the wear and tear of the last 50 years, evoking a sense of nostalgia and comfort. The composition of the painting is simple yet powerful, with Jacko taking centre stage it is a testament to the power of love and the importance of treasuring the memories that make us who we are.
