This painting is a portrait of my late father using some of the objects that were important to him in the last few months of his life. Dad did the Telegraph crossword every day, he enjoyed Classic FM on his radio, and he loved a game of scrabble. His little pill box is in the painting as he always had it in his pocket, and it still has two rennies in it. Dad was a remarkable man, we are extremely proud of all the things he did, and we miss him.
I called the painting ‘Crossing the Bar’ as that is the title of one of Dad’s favourites pieces of music, that we played at his funeral.
Oil and acrylic paint on wooden board.
