About this artwork

The Abstract painting alludes to the passing nature of life and the natural world. The painting uses a limited palette of cool colours (green, blue and purple) It expresses energy and vitality. Movement is conveyed visually through the physicality of paint. The trails of paint and the random blobs of thick pigment result from poured turpentine onto oil paint. The painting was the result of experimentation, responding to chance interaction of materials in orchestrating the elements of the composition. The art work could be interpreted as an abstract waterscape. It shows movement and changing light, perhaps expressing my fascination of how water changes with light. The portrayal of movement is shown by the trails of paint. This gives a visual effect of ripples of water and falling leaves. The image conveys the concept that life is fleeting and the beauty of transience,reminding us to enjoy the moments of life. Nature is conveyed as temporal by the effective application of paint.
