Emma Garvey

I am a professionally trained artist and painting conservator. I live and work in Yorkshire and have exhibited my work locally and in London. The natural environment has always been a source of inspiration for my artwork. Although the scenery can often be picturesque, I also think it is important to try and depict what is broken, changing or appears disturbed in the natural environment. I tend to look for unusual or dramatic compositions, lines, and shapes; from small details in the landscape, broken trees and exposed roots caused by extreme weather, to the way in which manmade structures interact with nature. I work in oil paint, photography, pencil, and wax.
