I try not to interfere too much with a plein air sketch. My ideal is to produce a good painting which can be hung, still wet, as soon as I get it home. However, with this Little Langdale sketch made in July, I felt I wanted to transplant a foxglove or two from the far side of the road to this. That wonderful pink could only improve things! In my defence, a quote from Marc Jacob - "The moment you cheat for the sake of beauty, you know you are an artist."
