The winter or 2005-6 seemed a long one, & I remember getting out to do an oil sketch for the first time in 06 at the beginning of May. The morning was mild with milky sunshine. This painting is in its as finished on the bank of Elterwater condition. In the distance is the distinctive outline of Langdale Pikes.
