My style has been described as a fusion of folk art, figurative and naive genres. While my favourite mediums are oils and watercolours, I work in a diverse range, and am currently exploring more and more the versatility of acrylics. Often, I use printmaking as an integral part of my paintings, across several media, but lately I have been experimenting with the discipline as a separate artform, and really enjoy the process.
Colour, pattern and my love of vintage objects and fabrics are equally important in my work. While I have always been inspired by nature, and enjoy drawing and painting birds and animals, my current focus has been the female figure: the constant search of the multi-faceted modern woman to find her true identity and a sense of belonging (but with my vintage take on it!) This struggle for setting down roots probably comes from my own experiences in life: having lived in Spain for 1 year, and especially Chile for over 9, and now back in N. Ireland, the old adage of Home is where the heart is is particularly resonant with me.
