I have been very inspired by this lovely plait of a girl sitting before me on a bus . The many layers of different colours around her neck really made me think of the artistic beauty if the composition. A real serendipity.
Anybody would have thought this girl had not much good taste for winter dressing.
But I am sure it was warm.
I thought the colours complementarity ( red/green, pale ochre yellow / violet) was not voluntary but they made a natural good composition for me to reproduce with all the details of the hair and the pinkish fur around the hood of the coat. I had the help of masking fluid to realise those fine details. I added the earring and the red elastic at the end of the plait.
This work was painted on hot pressed, smooth 'Arches' cotton paper, 300g/m2.
