Born in rural France, I spent my childhood on the family farm where I was always in contact with nature, the different seasons, the animals … The solitude of the countryside provided the perfect catalyst for imagination and creativity. I was forever drawing and painting (oil at that time). Later, after attending an exhibition of watercolours at a gallery in Lille, I fell in love with that medium and thereafter I have only painted in watercolour. A few years ago I discovered printmaking while in Northumbria and now practice the many diverse techniques associated with this form of art. It is here that the strict discipline and patience I learned during my career as a research chemist has proved to be invaluable.
