I started painting seriously about 10 years ago after taking very early retirement from a career in management accountancy.

My first works were in acrylics in bright colours, naive in style.  I then painted a few famous faces in pop art style mainly in black & white with grey shading.

I joined a local art class and was introduced to artisan oils, watercolours, gouache and pastels. I have since been successful in gaining entry to the prestigious Derbyshire Open Art Exhibition each time I have entered and in 2014 I won the Derbyshire County Council Award and in 2016 won a commendation medal. I have also taken part in the Buxton Spa Prize.

In December 2015 I was accepted as a member of The Gallery New Mills, which is an artists' co-operative and in October 2016 I joined the High Peak Artists Group and their permanent exhibition in Gallery in the Gardens Buxton.

I tend to work from my own photographs which I first manipulate in Adobe Photoshop to try to produce something a bit different. When I've got something which appeals to me I get out the paint brushes.

My recent work has been inspired by the landscapes of the High Peak area of Derbyshire and has been mainly in gouache or Chromacolour. I also now paint digitally.

My works are also available as limited or open edition prints. Prices on application.

I am delighted that my painting 'History' was short-listed for the Artist of the Year Competition 2017 and was on display at the Mall Galleries from 23 to 28 January.
