KRISTINE NASON S.E.A., S.W.A. Kristine Nason is a leading contemporary equestrian artist and an established portrait painter, based in the south of England near London. ‘I am lucky to have inherited an artistic talent passed down through generations of my family. I grew up in the English countryside surrounded by horses and I was always entranced by their beauty, so practically as soon as I could hold a pencil I would endlessly observe their grace of movement and form, and strive to capture that essence with pencil and paintbrush. Drawing skills and a thorough understanding of anatomy underpins my work, and at the age of 14 I began accepting commissions for equestrian studies, and selling paintings through galleries. After a successful career in the business side of art I returned to fine-art painting, specialising in equestrian work and portraiture. I like to use watercolour or pencil, but more recently in my equine art I am more inclined to use oils or mixed media. The current direction of my work uses the horse as a visual metaphor for qualities of greatness that we humans aspire to: beauty, nobility, bravery, gentleness, power . . . With the resulting artworks I hope to present images which touch the soul and delight the eye. I am a Full Member of both The Society of Equestrian Artists and The Society of Women Artists, and I exhibit with many other major art societies in the UK. Much of the work I produce is commissioned, and I have sold artworks to collectors all over the world.’
