Iain's inspiration comes from the landscapes he experiences in his travels as well as those more familiar in his own homeland. Whether it is the awe of the Grand Canyon or the windblown nature of the scottish coast his focus is on capturing something of the emotional response to them, sharing them with the viewer.
As a largely self taught artist his chosen medium is watercolour and he works from drawings, photos and watercolour sketches done on site. After a number of successful solo and joint exhibitions he has returned to live in the Scottish Borders, concentrating on landscapes and flower paintings with his direct style that captures the variety of shapes, colours and fleeting shadows.
