A keen amateur painter with military and French connections. Paints in most media (watercolour, pastels, oils, and acrylics.) He paints dog portraits, landscapes, and waterscapes. He particularly enjoys painting light effects on clouds and water. The total proceeds from any sales will be donated at Hugh's discretion to one or all of the following charities:
The Countess of Brecknock's Hospice in Andover,
The Rifles Benevolent Trust,
Horatio's Gardens, in Salisbury,
PSPA, The King's Somborne Village Hall,
and Ukrainian Refugees.
