'La Pudicizia' - charcoal over watercolour wash and copper leaf based on Antonio Corradini's sculpture at the Cappella Sansevero (1752).
La Pudicizia, or Modesty, forms the trio of artistic excellence of the Sansevero Chapel, canonised by travelers, guides and art historians since the 18th century. The monument is dedicated by Raimondo di Sangro to the memory of his “incomparable mother”, Cecilia Gaetani dell'Aquila d'Aragona, who died on December 26, 1710, when Raimondo was not yet one year old.
The drawing strives to capture Corradini's elegant modelling of the drapery through a combination of loose stokes, detailed shading and chiaroscuro to draw the viewer's attention to the veil.
The print will be unmounted and unframed, wrapped in acid free tissue and delivered in a sturdy postal tube by Royal Mail tracked and signed for. (Postage included in the price U.K. only).
