I have been interested in art for most of my life and I am largely self-taught. My work covers both the imagination and reality, consisting of figurative, abstract, still life and landscape. Science fiction and fantasy has been a big influence on my work.
I use a range of media such as oils, watercolours, pencils, ink and felt tipped pens. Following a drawing and watercolour painting course in 1985, I began to work increasingly more from reality. I really enjoy working with the human form, including the use of my own body.
In 2005, an informal art course resulted in my first oil painting (Jam Jar and Bauble). Oil painting has since become a favourite medium to work in. I have received a few commissions and I have exhibited some of my work in recent years.
Recently I have explored the use of PaintShop to work on or to finish older pictures and sketches from the 1970s and 1980s as well as pictures from scratch or from new drawings.
