The inspiration for this piece comes from a simple, yet very meaningful poem by Sheldon Silverstein, "Unmask":
He kept it hid
And so did she.
They searched for blue
Their whole life through.
Then passed right by -
And never knew.
As I interpret it, being true to yourself - your values, beliefs, needs, feelings - is the key to happiness and a fulfilled life. It may sound easy, but it requires a lot of self-awareness, inner work and courage. Hiding behind social expectations steers you away from who you are. But your happiness is your responsibility. It is crucial to take time to engage in the activities that will help you find or cultivate your authentic self and feel the power of living the life that resonates with your whole being.
