Steve Greaves

Artist | Painter | Photographer.

Born in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England UK in 1963.

I studied for two years at Barnsley School of Art 1979-1981 and then specialised in wildlife illustration at Dyfed College of Art in Carmarthen, South Wales 1981-1984.

Currently I am the art and photography technician at Brinsworth Academy in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

I use whatever painting style seems appropriate. My early work is mainly detailed realism, and my more recent work is more expressive with exploration of colour, texture and tone. I am currently producing a series of landscape paintings in acrylic with heavy impasto applied with palette knife. 

My early influences: Raymond Harris Ching, Andrew Wyeth.

My current influences: Sir Kyffin Williams, Frank Auerbach, Vincent Van Gogh.
