A winter scene of snow on the moors at Woodhead Pass on the Pennines in Derbyshire in an Impressionist/Expressionist style. The paint is roughly mixed and vigorously applied with a palette knife in an attempt to show the harsh beauty of the Pennine moorland wilderness. The snow on the hills contrasts starkly with the dark stone walls, heather and battered old fencing.
This piece is inspired by my love of Vincent Van Gogh, Kyffin Williams and the modern Expressionistic realism of Frank Auerbach.
