The joy of flowers in bloom becomes a musical composition in this painting. A sense of a window with leaded panes shining light is glimpsed on the right and the lilac is like a breath of fresh air, bringing light and depth to the painting. Painting this reminded me of being in awe of a garden as if you were really little. I was very strongly influenced by illustrations from The Marigold Garden and Arietty.
