I am a latecomer to the art world having only started using colour pencils in June  2020 age 49 with hyperrealism as my genre.

I have always loved and had a passion for realism. It would be the realistic historical portraits that caught my attention at museums or new works on show at contemporary galleries.

I have learned a lot about myself using colour pencils through self reflection and I know how important it is for me to be out of my comfort zone and grow as an artist. Contemplating a piece with the right complexity, values, textures and details is not only exciting but needs to challenge my thinking how I approach it. When I see it in my minds eye, I relish the thrill of the chase with a frisson of excitement to conquer and overcome that particular challenge to the best of my ability. Its that feeling that inspires me.
