Mark was a Police Officer. In August 2021 he committed suicide at Beachy Head.
Mark often walked along a river path by the Wandle River in South Wimbledon. Following his death a family member contacted a local councillor who was involved in planting daffodil bulbs to brighten up the borough. She asked if she would be able to plant a group of bulbs in memory of Mark.
She then reached out to social media to ask the local community whether anybody would like a bulb to be planted along in memory of a loved one lost to suicide
The response was overwhelming. So many tragic stories of lives lost. Mothers, siblings, friends, neighbours the list seemed endless. Thousands of daffodil bulbs were planted and a 'blue bench' was installed to sit, reflect and enjoy the carpet of daffodils.
This painting is of the actual flowers from Spring this year 2023. All proceeds will go to the charity 'Maytree'. It can be viewed at an exhibition held in Morleys of Tooting from 19th of August until the 2nd of September.
