I have been painting for several years now, since I retired and have had more time to spend on my art. I am a member of a small group of people who paint together most weeks and also a member of Salisbury Group of Artists.

I am gaining more confidence and enjoy experimenting with different mediums, although my favourites are still acrylic, and more recently Alkyd oils.

I enjoy painting nature – animals, landscapes, seascapes and sometimes townscapes, although I relate to the beautiful countryside in the area where I live.

I enjoy incorporating oranges, pinks and golds into my work and experimenting with different colours. I am also influenced by the current trend of abstracts, loosening up my work, retaining some elements of reality, while presenting a more interpretive approach. I find that the only limitations in art are the artist's ability and desire to produce a worthwhile, meaningful painting – which may represent their inner feelings and thoughts , that hopefully the viewer can relate to.

This year I am wanting to try out a new idea for my website, by introducing themes within my paintings, which I will change approximately every six weeks to a different theme and more paintings. I am starting with Trees as my first theme which are generally classed as landscapes, but sometimes they might overlap with abstracts. So watch this space and see what I am uploading next time. I am hoping you will find this interesting, and you will you enjoy looking at my paintings.

I am open to any comments as I feel it is a positive way to improve my work.

This month I am concentrating on landscapes of different sorts, incorporating water, sunset and the beautiful countryside we live in.
