A painting for Advent. Many European artists have treated "The Flight into Egypt", often placing the Holy Family passing through splendid landscapes familiar to the painter, if not perhaps very similar to the Levant. In this tradition, I borrowed these poetic figures from the Dutch master Paul Brill, and placed them in a lovely grove I came across on the Isle of Mull. The painting is presented in the yellow metal-leafed frame I made for it.
