Out one day on a cycle ride, I had this fortunate encounter with a shepherd and his flock. To make this painting with the help of my photo, I just had to remove the shepherd from his quad bike, put a staff in his hand et voila! Oh, and the actual shepherd was wearing a green boiler suit. I was once taken to task for re-clothing him Romantically in a red cap and waist coat, but I have this support from Marc Jacob: "The moment you cheat for the sake of beauty, you know you are an artist." The painting is presented in the cherrywood frame I made for it. Postcards of this painting and others in this portfolio are available from the Theatre by the Lake shop and The Card Collection, Packhorse Court, both in Keswick.
