Detail - Strange as it may seem, it was the story of Apollo 13, (I was there!) so well told in the Tom Hanks film, which prompted this painting. In place of the wonderful but perhaps rather "utility" Apollo Command, Service & Lunar Modules, mine is a fantasy vessel. The dream remains broken. The frame is driftwood - as though fashioned from what could be salvaged. Viewers sometimes see the rainbow sails & and are charmed, but this is a deeply pessimistic painting - a picture of disaster.
