I made this painting & sold it sometime between 1998 and 2003. I've always thought the poetry of the Lakeland landscape lends itself to allusions to masters such as Corot. This figure of the piping shepherd boy is not to be found in Corot's works, but is derived from some of his figures. Fleetwith Pike towers over Buttermere. I would relish the chance to make another like this for a visitor to Artists and Illustrators looking for a special painting. It can be presented in a "swept" frame or a simple cherrywood frame.
