Painting started after a career on the airlines and lockdown forced me to fill my time with something creative. I enjoy painting realistic still-life, enjoying the challenge of striving for realism without it looking too photographic. I am often hunting around markets and antique stalls looking for interesting things to paint, after collecting various items, I then put my vision onto canvas.
I have also tried my hand at portraits inspired by the community of Jericho where I live. I do love how people express themselves with dress, accessories, make-up and hair styles etc. an artistic portrait is not just a reflection of a subject’s appearance but also a window to their soul, capturing the essence of their being and the silent stories that reside within. I strive to capture an expression that would portray a mood/personality. My portrait picture gallery is called ‘Faces of Jericho’.
My art studio is my sanctuary where I can escape and forget worries and time. Being creative has been very therapeutic for me, channelling negative energy into a positive result. After all, we artists are known for our sensitive nature! And I am definitely a delicate being.
