I have drawn and painted since a child, creating pictures in oils, watercolour, pastel and pencil.
In 2008 I submitted a drawing to the very first DSWF wildlife artist of the year competion. Surprisingly I was shortlisted, my drawing hung amongst the other incredible artwork on display at the exhibition at the Mall Galleries London. My wife and attended the preview evening at the gallery, it was with delight I noticed my drawing had a red dot on it! It was a wonderful feeling knowing the sale of my artwork would be used for the conservation of wildlife. I was shortlisted again in 2019 with my oil painting “In the Heat of the Day” an African landscape with a herd of gazelle appearing out of the heat haze. The painting did not sell at the exhibition at the Mall Galleries. Each year DSWF hold a Wildlife Ball to raise money for the foundation. I decided to donate “In the Heat of the Day” to be auctioned at the event. It was duly auctioned and sold for £3000 on the evening. David Shepherd had inspired me since I was a teenager after attending one his first exhibitions talks on conservation. I met him many times and his Grand daughter Emily. They both were so delightful and forthcoming with inspiration. I have created many paintings over the years mainly wildlife, also some diverse subjects like a clipper ship on the high seas, formula one cars, classic cars and portraits.
