Michael Riman started painting in the 1950's mainly in oils and continued this as a hobby while formally employed. On taking early retirement in 1990 he began to work in watercolour and soon became aware of the beautiful results which could be produced using this difficult and unpredictable medium. He has studied closely the work of the early 19th Century artists which has very much influenced the development of his style. His painting is free in the use of translucent washes to create atmosphere and grandeur where close attention to detail is suggested rather than obviously stated. He has had solo exhibitions in Warwick, Kenilworth and Harbury and a selection of his work can be found in local shops and galleries. He is a member of the Stratford upon Avon Art Society
