Margaret Walty trained as a jeweller at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs in Geneva, Switzerland, and developed an eye for and a delight in detail which she now brings to her paintings. She has been awarded Gold medals for botanical illustration by the Royal Horticultural Society and the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society, and has illustrated books of nursery rhymes and fairy tales for children, books on Chinese tree peonies and Celtic astrology, and most recently a science fiction novel.
