In this framed watercolour painting I’ve tried to capture a serene moment in a ballet studio. A young girl seated gracefully on the polished floor of the studio adjusting her ballet shoe in preparation for class. She wears a delicate black tutu and her hair is neatly tied back into a bun. She appears focused but calm, her small hands carefully fixing the ribbons of her ballet slipper.
Behind her, the soft washes of the studio suggest large windows with light streaming through, casting a warm glow across the room. The floor reflects the faintest hint of light, adding to the peaceful ambiance. The use of soft pastel colors, particularly pale pinks, creams, and gentle greys, contributes to the painting’s overall feeling of innocence and quiet determination. The fluidity of the watercolour medium adds a sense of movement and lightness, much like ballet itself.
