Louise Hackman-Hexter

I'm a Sevenoaks based artist enjoying being creative in my home studio. I've had some work exhibited at The Turner Contemporary in 2022. My focus is protection of our natural environment - specifically woodland and veteran/ancient trees. Veteran trees are vital for complex ecosystems, supporting a multitude of flora, fauna & fungi / mycorrhizal networks. They are fascinating to study with their intriguing structures and textures. I'm currently working on bas-relief wood carvings of Knole veteran/ancient trees using my own methods based on field studies in pencil/charcoal, carving into recycled oak floor boards. Knole's 1000 acre deer park is a precious sanctuary for wildlife. Also - previous tree artworks in mixed media & detailed oak/vine leaves carved in olive/oak.
