"The Mystery of Death" is a profound representation of power and the crimes that shape the world. At its centre, a human skull is pierced by a Roman gladius sword, a stark symbol of injustice and violence. Flowing from the skull are rich purple fabrics, a colour historically reserved for emperors, highlighting the culpability of those in positions of authority. The drapery, twisting and rising, symbolises a tormented soul, burdened by guilt or suffering. In the background, the shadowy outline of a city looms, its towers and domes reflecting the diversity of beliefs and religions. The composition weaves together themes of mortality, oppression, and the moral complexity of those who wield power.
**The Mystery of Death**
A skull impaled, a blade’s cruel kiss,
The weight of power bound to abyss.
Purple drapes spill like blood once shed,
Whispers of empires, the guilty dead.
Beneath the veil of twilight skies,
A city looms, where shadows rise.
Domes and spires in solemn prayer,
Silent witnesses to despair.
The fabric twists, a soul in flight,
Fleeing torment, fleeing night.
Yet chains of sin and sorrow cling,
A haunting hymn the winds still sing.
Injustice reigns, a sovereign’s throne,
Built on lives, not flesh and bone.
The sword, the cloth, the distant spires,
A world consumed by cruel desires.
But in the stillness, truths ignite,
A call for justice, a flame of light.
For death may shroud, but cannot hide,
The reckoning all hearts abide.
