My painting depicts an incredible rescue where the outstanding bravery of an RAF winchwoman saved the life of a seriously injured French fisherman. After many failed attempts to board the trawler in atrocious conditions she was eventually able to get onto the boat, lift the casualty on board the helicopter, he was then airlifted to safety. The pilot, winch operator and in particular the winchwoman received various bravery awards for their incredible efforts.
