This painting was inspired whilst watching "Saving Lives At Sea", it depicts the rescue of the trawler Northern Eagle by Fraserburgh's lifeboat - Willie & May Gall. With the fishing boat rising and falling more than 30 feet, gale force winds and no way of controlling it as the rudder was jammed hard over, the lifeboat crew had to try and get a line to them. After successfully getting a line to the trawler (at the first attempt) it was towed, with great difficulty into Peterhead for repairs.
