I have always wanted to do a self-portrait but just never got round to doing one. Until recently.
I have done a few sketches alla prima but never an in-depth study of my mush, so it was time to get the camera out, the lighting just right and go for it.
I am so pleased with the end result that it hangs in my studio and it inspires me - Lord knows why as I am not a narcissist or anything.
I look at it and wonder what I was thinking at the time; had my son just shouted me? Was I eyeing up the sale item in the shop as another shopper picked it up? Who knows.
