This beautiful image gives a sense of the mysterious, with the curve of her face complimented by the sweeping lines of the hijab. The colours are striking and I enjoyed creating the details of her face and of the folds of clothing. The reference photo is taken by an unknown photographer but I hope they feel I have done her justice.
She is completed using soft pastels and pastel pencils on pastelmat paper. The sharpened pencils create the detail and the background is blended using polystyrene sticks to give a three dimensional effect to the completed painting.
