This is a portrait of a work colleague, which came about when he posed for a few drawings with my 6th form class. He is a bit of an Aretha Franklin fan so I decided to create an image that could incorporate a few Aretha lyrics in the title (from the song Natural woman). The canvas has been stitched and padded before being stretched and then primed – this has created the turbulent sky.
