This is a portrait of my youngest son. I began this piece in the summer before he left for university, the painting is on linen but I collaged the painting area with bits of his old exam papers and prospectuses that were lying around his room, the aftermath of his A level studies, first. The title of the piece, Blue Skies, came from the old song - 'nothing but blue skies do I see' which I found myself singing whilst painting it. The painting took two years to complete, mainly because he was not around often enough to get it finished!
