Following her Art Foundation year in Jordanstown, Eileen left Belfast and went to Birmingham Art College where she gained her BA Hons in Fine Art Painting. She then moved to Oxford, and continued to train, gaining her City and Guilds 7307 stages 1& 2, a Certificate in Education from Oxford Brooks University, and Train the Trainers.
“Painting is not only to copy the object, it is to seize a harmony between numerous relations.” Paul Cézanne
From here, she continued to paint and work as a community Artist and Tutor. Eileen’s deft brushstrokes and innate sense of colour demonstrate her mastery of an array of mediums. Eileen has exhibited widely in solo and Group exhibitions throughout Ireland and the UK, and her work hangs in Private and Municipal collections in Europe and the US.

Eileen feels being an Artist has made every day an adventure, whereby she strives to explore the subject that she wants to represent, in whatever media she feels is appropriate. Eileen will often work for months on an idea, or a feeling, by exploring it, following instinct, and relying on years of experience to create images that she hopes will excite, whether they are mixed media portraits, or an inner journey represented by an abstract painting. As a painter, Eileen feels it’s always thrilling to experience the moment a painting takes on a life of its own. One instant there is an amalgamation of coloured shapes on the canvas surface and then, with the addition of a single stroke it's transformed into a lifelike entity. For her, a great portrait painting goes far beyond merely capturing a faithful likeness. The physical process of applying paint with a brush creates a unique dynamic energy, impossible to replicate through any mechanical process. Eileen now lives and works in Youghal, Co Cork, Ireland.
