The water in question is in a lake at Bodnant Gardens, Wales. I found the reflections of trees and shrubs made a fascinating pattern especially when partially obscured by drifts of ‘stuff’ floating idly on the surface. As it was not possible to do any sketches at the time, a photo had to suffice. I chose this colour palette as a way of describing the play with dark and light - keeping it fairly simple.
