In early June I painted the stars of the garden ' the pale pink Sarah Bernhardt peonies. I counted over 30 buds on one plant. I chose to paint on a full imperial size sheet of Arches 640 gsm watercolour paper. I wet the paper and let all the colours blend together to create a softness in the petals. I included delphiniums in the background to give a slight colour contrast with the pale pink peony petals.
