Chitra Ramanathan is an established painter and art educator. Her body of predominantly large-scale mixed media paintings have been featured in various galleries on Broadway, New York since 1995, earning her praise from critics. The artist began her successful career when the ARC Gallery/Educational Foundation in Chicago, illinois, Invited her to a solo exhibition in June, 1994, shortly after the artist received her Bachelors degree in Painting with honours from the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois in May 1993. She earned her M.B.A in Art Museum Administration from the College of Commerce and Business Administration from the same university in 1997.
Several of Chitra Ramanathan's originals have been owned by individuals in the United States and in Europe, and commissioned for permanent site-specific public art installations by educational institutions, and organizations such as the MGM Mirage, for the Bellagio Conservatory, Las Vegas in 2004.
Also an academician, Chitra Ramanathan is Faculty, Painting at the Art School of the Vero Beach Museum of Art, Florida, USA. In 2005, the Keeper of the Royal Academy of Arts, London, invited her for an image and lecture presentation of her body work as well as conduct student tutorials at the RA Schools, tour completed in October 2005.
In 2010, Chitra Ramanathan received an invitational received an invitation to complete a self-directed artist residency at Marnay sur Seine, France at Camac Centre D'Art, through Aristay.org partnered with the UNESCO.
