“ I am interested in depicting light - dawn and dusk, mist and shadow. My portrait subjects often inhabit an area of single source, one-directional light which adds the drama of lost edges and “white-out” highlights. I mix paint wet-in-wet directly onto board which traps the movement of water through paint. I then use juicy paint straight from the tube - my colour choices, influenced by over a decade spent living in tropical South East Asia."
