This series of semi-abstract work has a lineage back to my beginnings as a painter of landscape. It developed from a desire to use up small canvases and boards and to dispense with detail. It employed modernist attributes of flattened picture space and raw colour and was actually the forerunner of a picture form now ascribed to my still life work.
