Landscape painting is where I feel comfortable whether it being something from my imagination or a place from real life, being able to paint trees and waterfalls is something I find so relaxing, we really do have a beautiful planet.
Living in the south west of England, well, there is a LOT of trees around for inspiration alongside some of the best beaches in the UK which definitely sets the ideas flowing.
I paint using acrylic and inks and use a variety of tools to create my work, not just a brush! The humble kitchen sponges frequent my artist tool box quite often alongside a large range of palette knives. I paint onto canvas board or boxed canvas and then each finished piece (is a piece of art really finished?) is then varnished 3-4 times and left to completely dry for up to a week before any kind of framing can happen.
I aim to create a sense of calmness and escapism within my paintings, hoping that the onlooker can detach from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and find a hidden quiet within.
