I have been interested in art since a very early age, winning a prize at school for my drawing. I have attended a number of art courses, but remain mostly self taught.
It was during one of these courses that I discovered the beauty and immediacy of soft pastels. Yes, they are a little messy, but the rewards of using them are more than worth that small inconvenience.
Since retiring from the Fire Service I have been able to spend more time on my art, and have been a member of art clubs/societies both in Hampshire and Suffolk, selling my work at exhibitions, and completing numerous commissions.
Working mostly in pastels and oils my subjects are mainly traditional, influenced by the paintings of the Norfolk artist Edward Seago, and I believe the atmosphere of a painting is set by the impression of the sky.
I continue to enjoy my artistic journey as there is always room for improvement and the opportunity to try new ideas along the way.
