“Bijin-ga” series:
Bijin means ‘beautiful person’ in Japanese. ‘Bijin-ga’ means ‘pictures of beautiful girls.’ It is a central genre of woodblock print artwork that "emphasizes the (inner) beauty of women".
Bijin I - Wild:
Based on an original image by Texan photographer Ayo Ogunseinde, this woman has a certain longing about her. She’s undoubtedly modern but her gaze is seeking escape, freedom - a new frontier? (Completed March 2023.)
