Lilly is a self-taught artist with a passion for the beauty of painting. Her artistic journey began in Hamburg, her hometown, which continually inspires her with its diversity and cultural history.
Her fascination with late 19th-century landscape painting has led her to delve deeply into the world of old masterpieces. In studying these works, she finds not only inspiration but also a deep connection to bygone eras, materials, color compositions, and brushstrokes that significantly influence her own artistic development.
Her sense of color and aesthetics has been refined during her work in the field of interior and design. There, she learned how colors harmonize with each other and how they can animate spaces. These experiences now flow into her art, lending her works a special depth and expressiveness.
Since the 1990s, she has had the fortune of being a student of renowned artists in Hamburg. Their guidance and support have significantly shaped her artistic development and helped her find her own style.
Currently, she is deeply engaged with British art and is a student at the Royal Drawing School in London. Inspired by artists such as John Constable and J.M.W. Turner, she currently focuses on depicting landscape scenes in her work. Her passion lies in exploring different materials and painting grounds. While she initially focused on watercolor, she now prefers working with gouache, pastels, and acrylic.
