Bob Dellar

I am a self-taught emerging artist who has always had a keen interest in art and drawing but have only seriously taken up the brushes within the last five years. I’m thoroughly enjoying the perpetually fulfilling process of learning how to be paint, and new techniques and approaches are forever coming to the fore. I’ve recently achieved a degree in humanities with a strong element of art history which I found to be compelling motivation to experience and produce art. As an arborist and gardener by trade, I have a life-long interest in the natural world and my painting reflects that. Conversely, as a Londoner born and bred I also enjoy elements of the urban environment, especially juxtaposed with nature, and I attempt to explore this also. I paint mainly in oils on Dibond panels, a substrate with a totally smooth surface which enables almost endless manipulation of the paint, blending and developing in the process, following the paint along paths of artistic discovery. Sometimes these paths lead to a muddy mess but boards are easily wiped clean and it’s all part of the learning process after all! These techniques can to lead to impressionistic landscapes and cityscapes that, at best, can be colourful and captivating. I have sold paintings through local art galleries, membership of local art society’s, at art fairs as well as via social media and word of mouth, so by way of natural progression The British Art Club seems to me to be the next avenue to explore, as it offers a formidable platform to showcase art to a substantial and forever-growing audience.
